When is Selection Sunday for March Madness?

On March 16, 2025, Selection Sunday, the 68-team bracket for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will be officially revealed. The NCAA Selection Committee chooses the 36 at-large teams based on NET rankings, schedule strength, and victories. The process starts with 32 teams securing automatic bids by winning their respective conference tournaments. 

Following the selection of all teams, they’re ranked from 1 to 68 and divided into four regions, guaranteeing a competitive bracket that takes into account probable matchups and geographic proximity. The Final Four at-large teams and the four lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers will compete for a position in the First Round in the First Four games, which take place in Dayton, Ohio, on March 18–19, 2025.
